REVIEWS FOR THE NEW TOUR SHOW!
Thinking of coming to see my new show? Here's what the critics had to say!
Hope to see you there!
I've noticed a number of journalists in comedy have taken to labeling me a 'right-wing comedian'.
I've also seen I'm now described as such on a Wikipedia page that someone set up about me and my comedy.
I want to make clear that I certainly have some right-wing views -and just as many that are not.
I don't subscribe to any political ideology and I am not in any way affiliated with any political organisation.
Those of you who have seen my stand-up will know that I do material of all kinds on a lot of subjects. On any given night politics might be one of those subjects, or it might not.
Over the past year I have certainly been very critical of the resurgent hard-left wing in British politics- and particularly scathing of those individuals on the internet that are increasingly now referred to as 'Social Justice Warriors'.
These people seemed to me a target ripe for satire. And disturbingly rather than comedians in the UK taking the piss out of these SJWs over the past year or so, they seemed to be joining their sanctimonious ranks.
Over the past year I have certainly spent time questioning why all political comedians in the UK- almost without exception- are stridently left-wing in their politics, why there isn't any room for nuance, why it is that in the eyes of the comedy industry the idea of a comedian expressing right-wing views automatically must mean they're Bernard Manning or Jim Davidson.
But of course, just because I am critical of left-wing hysteria on the internet, and the left-wing establishment in comedy, does not automatically mean I am right-wing.
I have never said at any time that I am a 'right wing' comedian and I reject that label. I am not remotely interested in championing a political cause, i'm just interested in finding new and interesting ways to make people laugh, whatever their beliefs. But unlike what seems like most of the comedy industry, I don't believe humour is exclusively the domain of people with Marxist values.
I wanted to make that clarification. I work in a public capacity as a stand-up comedian, so I guess I have to accept that there are people who from time to time are going to write things that are contrived and untrue about me if they feel it benefits them in some way. Everyone's got their own agenda. It's up to each of us to choose what to believe of course.
I can promise you this- come see my show, you will laugh.
If you want to hear some jokes, some funny stories with no subtext and no agenda, if you don't mind comedy going into slightly darker places, if you're not easily offended, come and say hello :)
